He actually served as the Acting Administrator for the DEA in 2020. But now he'll be serving 63 months in a federal prison. Ouch!
Just recently, I was sent a fundraising letter that was entirely fraudulent and wholly unacceptable. Small world, eh?
So I replied with my own letter... to the Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania.

By my estimation, the enclosed “monetary solicitation” was sent to roughly 23,232 households in Allegheny County.

The Emergency Medical Services Authority of Ross/West View might have honorable intentions, but this type of scam fundraiser should never be tolerated. I don’t think it requires a skilled attorney to realize the bogus nature of this letter.

Whoever conceived of this scheme, and those who perpetrated it, need to be held legally accountable for their actions and behavior. Preying upon an individual’s fear... that if they don’t fork over a donation, their personal info will likely be forwarded to a collection agency is a tactic commonly used by televangelists. Not government agencies.
Also, the arbitrary amounts ($55, $100, $200, $500) being “billed” to small/medium/large business owners seems purposely attenuated to prey upon the naïveté of those who run family businesses. Many of which are the lifeblood of Allegheny County.
At a bare minimum, all proceeds obtained under the guise of this “charitable fishing scam” should be immediately returned.
I’d also recommend an apology and official statement from Ross/West View EMS-Rescue to all Pittsburgh media outlets.
