#338. KKK Tim

Damn! A couple nights ago, the "Uncle Tim" hashtag got blocked on twitter.  #UncleTim started trending immediately after Senator Tim Scott gave the formal Republican rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s congressional address.  Oh yeah, I get it.  How clever.  A cynical variation on #UncleTom.  Woot.

Gotta feel for every guy named Tim who has ever had a niece or a nephew, eh?

Some other hashtags that apparently violate the First Amendment --- #SharpieGate, #StopTheSteal, and #RiggedElection.  

So what's my point here?  My point... is that if you wish to make a point... just conceive of a "easy to digest, controversial hashtag" and purposely try to get it blocked.  It might end up getting you banned or hidden.  But everyone's gonna learn what the hell your point is.  For example... #OrangeProlapse.

My first Phish show was at Kent State University in 1994.  One of my top 10 all-time favorite concerts.  But at the time, I only knew a few of their tunes.  When they hit the stage and opened with "Runaway Jim," I thought the lead singer was saying "Whooaaa, oh, oh, oh my name is Jim."  So naturally, I assumed the lead singer's first name was Jim.  And the song's title was obviously... "My Name is Jim."
