#997. No To Thune

Political Prediction:  Mitch McConnell might bail after the 2022 midterms.  I think he senses that the Republicans are not gonna win back the Senate in 2022.  Why?  Because his party has overstepped on everything.  Civility, obstructionism, abortion, guns, religion, voting rights, etc.  The GOP is just way too polarizing.  It's essentially become a cult.  Go figure.

Factor in the relentlessly exhausting Orange Prolapse and I think Mitch has just about had enough.  He might wish to exit with a smidgen of his dignity and legacy in tact.  Plus, the guy looks older than the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Either way, I think he's in the process of setting up his successor.  

And it comes down to the two Johns!  John Cornyn (TX) or John Thune (SD).   

Cue the late Johnny Olson.  Cum On Down!  You're the next participant on the extreme far right! 

The other John?  Uh, Barrass-hole on the left?  Uh, doubtful.

 

Cornyn's a heavyweight.  But I think Mitch passes the torch to Senator John Thune.  Just a hunch.
