... the Orange Prolapse is laughing at you.  You were always nothing but a mere prop.

When Donald Trump became President, he was faced with an unusual dilemma.  The prospect of being repeatedly regarded as a clown, an imbecile, and an absolute embarrassment... for 1,500 days straight.  In the mind of aide Stephen Miller, his only option would be to impose a legacy of hatred, cruelty and vindictive punishment/retribution.  After all, it's a lot harder to laugh and mock someone... if they're committed on a hourly basis, to eliminating your healthcare, engaging in forced child separation, advocating for police brutality, belittling the media, trashing the United States government, antagonizing our allies, emboldening our enemies, and so on and so forth.  History has a distinct legacy of evil dictatorial types.  The more you fear them.  The more you feel threatened.  

The more dangerous you think they are, the more challenging it becomes to laugh at them.  In a nutshell, THAT is the Trump doctrine.
