It kinda reminds me of this year's Rib Fest adjacent to Heinz Field. On Friday and Sunday, they had perimeter security wanding everyone who wished to enter. But on Saturday, the day of the Pitt game against Massachusetts, when it was far and away the most heavily attended day of the weekend, Heinz Field management eliminated the added security measure. Why? Well, because it would have been a pain in the ass. Resulting in huge lines of disgruntled rib-eaters and Pitt-Shit goers. So they made a conscience decision to sacrifice safety... in the name of cash and convenience. This happens all the time.

The same entire dynamic was on vivid display this morning during the female teenage Olympic gymnastic testimony against child molester Dr. Phillip Nassar, the FBI, Safe Sport, and the entire Olympic administrative hierarchy. Sure, some of them might have given a crap. But all of them, collectively and bureaucratically, never gave a shit. After all, it's just a bunch of whiny teenage girls. Right?
It's the same dynamic I repeatedly faced when echoing my concerns about outdated emergency evac protocol for large venues (stadiums, ballparks, etc.). When the FBI acted indifferently or improperly... well, at least their agency had some chain of accountability. Not that it mattered much. It didn't.
But the Department of Homeland Security? Pittsburgh Secret Service? Pittsburgh police department? The Pixburgh bomb squad? Uh, gimme a break. All of them lacked the requisite colon to even process the shit to begin with.
Moral of the story: when you attempt to engage on matters of culpability and accountability regarding government agencies... it's best to take it all with a grain of sodium chloride. Even if you're a helpless young victim of mass pedophelia. Let alone speaking up about a hypothetical cyberthreat / asymmetric terrorist attack that could conceivably rival 9/11.
