Just for the record, I actually prefer the parody title "Philadelphia Treason." Works better. But when it's all said and done, I'd prefer to trash the NFL's marketing/branding as opposed to indulging my inner ego.
My late godfather was this guy Dick Silverman. Lived in Newtown Square, PA. Wealthy, philanthropic, gregarious, eccentric, etc. He owned a few Cadillac dealerships around Philly. And believe it or not, it's my understanding that he actually had a minority stake in the team back in the late 70's/early 80's.
Dedicated to Hostile Golfer with whom we celebrated the Pixburgh 4th of July fireworks last night. Lyrics even contain an obligatory Yardley shout-out.
Philadelphia Eagles
sonofsaf
We used to play at JFK you know
It was outta site
More scary than the underground railroad
Defensive end Reggie White’s our favorite son
But had to rearrange
The more they play the less their fans have fun
Still my blood runs green for the Philadelphia Eagles
Even though the team, they labeled me a fag
Philadelphia Eagles took a big dump garbage can, yeah
Like a bag of trash worse than a deadbeat dad
Oh Philadelphia Eagles, wanna fight, I hate you
Wanna fight, in the NFC least all the time
Wanna fight, wanna fight,
Wanna fight, don't you wanna fight
Philadelphia Eagles, I hate you, fuck you too
If you ring bells you can ring ‘em on your phone
Some people bring the shitty (some people bring the shitty)
Some others call the town of Yardley their home (some others call the town of Yardley their home)
I like smokin’ blunts and snortin’ coke all the time (smokin’ blunts)
Till the talons of the Eagles clawed me
Right between my thighs
Still my blood runs green for the Philadelphia Eagles
Even though the team, they labeled me a fag
Philadelphia Eagles took a big dump garbage can, yeah
Mm mm, Like a bag of trash worse than a deadbeat dad
Oh Philadelphia Eagles, wanna fight, I hate you
Wanna fight, in the NFC least all the time
Wanna fight, wanna fight,
Wanna fight, don't you wanna fight
Philadelphia Eagles, I hate you, fuck you too
Oh Philadelphia Eagles, wanna fight, I hate you
Wanna fight, int he NFC least all the time
Wanna fight, wanna fight,
Wanna fight, don't you wanna fight
Philadelphia Eagles, I hate,
You know I hate , you know I hate you
Fuck you too, Philadelphia Eagles
I hate you
Fuck you too, Philadelphia Eagles
You know that I hate you
Fuck you too, Philadelphia Eagles
Don't you know that I hate you
Fuck you too, Philadelphia Eagles
Don't you know that I hate you
Fuck you too, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Freedom
Elton John
I used to be a rolling stone you know
If a cause was right
I'd leave to find the answer on the road
I used to be a heart beating for someone
But the times have changed
The less I say the more my work gets done
'Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born I've waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man, yeah
Gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had
Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won't you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do
If you choose to you can live your life alone
Some people choose the city (some people the city)
Some others choose the good old family home (some others choose a good old)
I like living easy without family ties (living easy)
Till the whippoorwill of freedom zapped me
Right between the eyes
'Cause I live and breathe this Philadelphia freedom
From the day that I was born I've waved the flag
Philadelphia freedom took me knee high to a man
Mm mm, gave me a piece of mind my daddy never had
Oh Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won't you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love you, yes I do
Oh, Philadelphia freedom, shine on me, I love you
Shine the light, through the eyes of the ones left behind
Shine the light, shine the light
Shine the light, won't you shine the light
Philadelphia freedom, I love,
You know I love , you know I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
You know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
Don't you know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom
Don't you know that I love you
Yes I do, Philadelphia freedom

The older I get, the more appreciate Elton John. He is the consummate professional. Philadelphia Freedom's probably my favorite song. And who among us doesn't enjoy a poignant Tiny Dancer or the triumphant Take Me To The Pilot? Too many songs to mention.
Since 1973, Elton has played the Burgh a grand total of 15 times. A minor regret was missing the 1994 Elton John/Billy Joel summer concert at Three Rivers Stadium.
Of course we'll go check out the Elton John farewell tour next year at PNC Park. They're already promoting the hell out of it and it's still over a year away in September of 2022.
Might even be tempted to hit his Progressive Field concert in Cleveland. However, I must acknowledge my disdain for the inference that cums with "Yeah, Saf did a back-to-back Elton. I guess that's how he rolls these days. Oh how the mighty have fallen." Fortunately, there's a 6 week gap between the shows. So that line of attack lacks a certain measure of credibility. Just sayin'.
For you all you Philly phanatics, last year I composed an exceptionally "tight" parody of Nazareth's "Love Hurts." Yep... Zach Ertz.
Please do not share this material with Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeff Lurie and/or Eagles fans, players, management, coaches, etc.
