#20. Inspire Change

First off, if I was a Star Trek producer, I'd sue the hell outta the National Football League for copyright violation.  Deep pockets baby!

But you just gotta love the endless NFL marketing campaigns designed to promote goodwill.

A.  Handing out little pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness (now that helps... except it doesn't).

B.  Celebrating minority players (anyone but Kaepernick).

C.  Being generously compensated by the federal government to "stand up" for our troops (with the exception of calling out the Orange Prolapse and his faux-patriotic Star Spangled Banner bullshit routine).

D.  Shedding light on the horror of domestic violence (years after Ray Rice knocked out his wife in a hotel elevator).

E.  All the marijuana fines and suspensions (steroids & pain killers... uh, nothing to see here, just move along).

F.  Decades of failing to acknowledge the obvious CTE/concussion issue (whoa, he got his bell rung).

G.  All of the cheating scandals (Spygate, Deflategate, Antonio Gates, etc.).

H.  Contributions and funding for mental health (how's AB doing anyway --- just give him time).

I.  DUI's, weapons charges, gang affiliations, and so on and so forth

The list is literally endless.  If only the alphabet had more letters.

I suspect this hypocrisy will continue unabated in perpetuity.  As long as the money keeps rolling in.  I'm eager to see how the NFL copes with the whole "fans returning to their seats this summer amidst the lingering pandemic" problem.  What tricks have they got up their sleeves?

I have a few ideas about how the NFL could proactively deal with the "PSL 4 LIFE" issue (personal seat license for life).  Unfortunately, Roger Goodell and the owners have a proven track record of refusing to listen to my advice.  Can't say I blame 'em.

So in keeping with that spirit, I'll dedicate this Doors parody to anyone watching the AFC/NFC Championship games this Sunday.  Hey, at least both games are outdoors.  Indoor championship games suck.

Inspire change when you’re a changer
Owners act smugly with no backbone
Goodell is crooked and not responsive
Seats will stay empty and he’ll frown

When you change
Black Lives Matter again
When you change
All the offenders disdain

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down

When you're strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you're strange
No one remembers your name
When you're strange
When you're strange
