Back in 1990, my older brother graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. I distinctly remember him describing one particular aspect — the constant lack of sleep. The 22 week course is described as “unapologetically demanding” as a significant number of students always “wash out.” Our family flew down for the graduation ceremony in Pensacola.
Anyway, my mother was looking through the Navy canteen. Searching for a gift for Rita, our next door neighbor who was tasked with feeding and walking our dog. Perhaps an article of clothing to commemorate the occasion? The only problem was that she exclusively wore these oversized house dresses. So my mom asked the cashier, “Do you have any house dresses that say NAVY on them?" Just an amusing memory. Hey, who wouldn’t want a house dress emblazoned with the words NAVY FLIGHT?
Pensacola is home to Florida’s 1st Congressional district. And guess who represents the Western Florida panhandle in the vaunted halls of Congress? Yep, Trump sycophant Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Here he is.
