Interesting Republican Congressional primary tomorrow in western Michigan.
Ginger incumbent Peter Meijer (R-MI) takes on John Gibbs (negro MAGA lunatic).
Meijer is one of a handful of House Republicans who had the unmitigated audacity to vote for impeaching Trump following the failed 1-6 insurrection. Thus incurring the eternal wrath of the Orange Prolapse.
Democrats have actually been trying to prop up the Gibbs candidacy, in hopes that an extremist far right wing wacko, will fare poorly in the general election. Michigan's newly gerrymandered 3rd District encompasses a few counties surrounding Grand Rapids and is widely regarded as a toss-up. Whoever wins will take on Democrat Hillary Scholten. Meijer defeated Scholten in 2020 (53% to 47%).
My bet is on Meijer in the primary. And then Scholten in the general. Where I expect female candidates will outperform... mostly due to the GOP's draconian position on abortion and women's healthcare.
