Earlier this month, Governor Tate Reeves (R-MS) was the first state executive to sign unprecedented anti-transgender legislation into law. I won't get into the specifics. But now South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem followed suit today. Hey, she was my "first." Good to see how these gubernatorial miscreants have their priorities in line.
If there's one thing we know for certain, other Republican politicians will coalesce toward the base. Because as long as Trumpism is perceived to be the conservative gateway to victory in the primaries, candidates will try to replicate the warped vision of the Orange Prolapse. Reinforce and play on themes of bigotry, discrimination, denigration, fear mongering, scapegoating, etc.
Believe me... I know. I've tried it myself. Now I'd like to think my delivery (regarding cybersecurity & public safety) is a bit more nuanced and sophisticated, but you know, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
